Who it’s for

Who this programme is for.

Designed for learners aged 9 to 11 who are curious about how computers, games and robots work.

  • Curious about how technology works
  • Keen to try things, test them and improve them
  • Happy to learn by making

What learners will learn

What learners will learn.

A first, friendly introduction to the ideas behind programming.

  • Introductory coding

Putting simple instructions together to make a program work.

  • Computational thinking

Breaking a problem into steps that a computer can follow.

  • Block coding

Building programs by connecting blocks, in tools such as Scratch.

  • Introductory robotics

Seeing how code makes a machine move and respond.

  • Problem solving

Spotting what went wrong, and trying again.

  • Small practical projects

Finishing small things that really work.

What learners build and do

Learning that ends in something made.

Learners put each idea to work. Examples of what they may do:

  • Create a simple game
  • Program a robot to move and respond
  • Solve puzzles with code
  • Show a small finished project

Learning approach

How learning works here.

  • Hands-onLearners spend their time making and testing, not only watching.
  • GuidedClear steps and support help learners keep moving forward.
  • Project-basedSkills come together in finished pieces of work.
  1. Learn

Clear, guided introductions to each new idea.

  2. Practice

Hands-on exercises that put the idea to work.

  3. Build

Small projects that bring the skills together.

  4. Receive feedback

Guidance on what works and how to improve it.

  5. Complete a project

A finished piece of work to show for the effort.
